Can you grow lavender from cuttings?

Q.

Hi Tui, can you grow lavender from cuttings?

Pete Nicholl

A.

Hi Pete

Yes, now is a good time to do it before the soft new growth shoots away. Autumn is also a good time, when the growth has hardened off. Take 10-15cm cuttings, preferably with a “heal” which is where the cutting meets the main stem of the plant. Place them in a free draining mix or pumice mix and place them in a shady spot. The cuttings can be dipped in a rooting hormone to help speed up root formation.

Thanks, Tui Team
