Q.
I am keen to establish a chamomile lawn. I plan to sow seed in trays soon and plant in August. Any tips for success? Is it reasonably hardy?

- A light free draining soil is best, apply a layer of garden mix to plant into.
- Chamomile does not like stony, gravelly or heavy clay soils.
- It grows well in full sun and part shade.
- Chamomile does not like to compete with weeds for nutrients and water, make sure all weeds are cleared before planting.
- Avoid walking on your lawn for about 12 weeks until it is established.
- Other than keeping the weeds under control it is a pretty low maintenance lawn.
- Chamomile lawns regular watering so it does not brown off over summer.
- Chamomile lawns are not hardwearing so if there is going to be some foot traffic in the area add stepping stones.
