How do I kill the ants coming out of Lemon trees trunk?

  Bay of Plenty
  December

Q.

Hi Tui, how do I kill the ants coming out of my lemon trees trunk?

Ravinder Brar

A.

Hi Ravinder

Ants will be feeding on the honey dew of either scale insect, mealy bug or aphids. If you control the insect pests, the ants will go away. I would say

If you look on the underside of the leaves or stem of the plant there may be small brown bumps, this is scale insect. Talk to your local garden centre or DIY store for a suitable spray for insects.

Thanks, Tui Team.
