Is Tui Indoor Plant Insect Spray suitable for all indoor houseplants?

  Auckland

Q.

Hi, I have recently purchased the 'Indoor Plant Insect Spray 500ml' and was wondering if this is suitable for every single indoor houseplant? I have seen a few fruit flys (I think? Bug-like) hanging around my watermelon peperomia and also my velvet philodendron and I am nervous to use in case in impacts the plant itself. Thanks.

Hi Lana, Tui Indoor Plant Insect spray is suitable for most indoor houseplants and will be okay to use on your peperomia and philodendron. Avoid using it on very small immature plants (cuttings), furry leafed plants such as African violets and delicate plants such as maidenhair ferns. Always spray plants in the shade, sunlight on the leaves while the spray is still wet can cause burning on the leaves. The little flies you describe could possibly be fungus gnats or scarid fly (same thing). The Indoor Plant Insect Spray can be sprayed onto the potting mix and this should eliminate the larvae that could be in the potting mix. Allow the mix to dry out on the surface between watering, this will help eliminate the flies. Lianne.
