Q.
When do I pull out my runner beans. They seem to have finished with only few flowers and an occasional bean. Is there a 'second wind' season?

Hi Marjan, regular harvesting encourages new growth and a prolonged crop of beans. It sounds like your crop is nearing the end as summer finishes. If the weather is still warm in Wellington (and there isn't a risk of frost) you can cut back your plants to try and encourage a second flush. Keep them well watered and mulch around the plants.
