Q.
Hi there, I have planted some feijoa trees in my garden and was wondering at what age they fruit? Thanks, Craig.
A.
You can expect feijoas to fruit once the plants are three years old, however sometimes they may not fruit until they are a year or two older. If you are buying new feijoa plants, get the bigger ones as they are likely to be a year or two older than the smaller ones.
A side dressing of Tui NovaTec Premium fertiliser in spring and autumn will help with the fruit development.

What age do feijoa trees fruit? Comments
Hi, I have a small Mandarin bush that has wood borer which has damaged the plant. Is there some way in which I can save the plant like rubbing vaseline on the branches or a spray.
Terry Moffat
Hi Terry, borer causes citrus some real headaches. To control this you can inject a residual insecticide into the holes and cracks in the bark, then cover the areas with Vaseline, this will mean that if you use a chemical you will need to avoid eating the fruit for the recommended withholding period. Thanks, Tui Team.
