Hi Judy, photos are always good to make identification easier. It could be slugs and snails on the silverbeet as they feed nocturally or caterpillars, they are likely to be hiding on the underside of the leaves. The feijoa could be slugs and snails, but is more likely to be nocturnal caterpillars or leaf roller caterpillar. Look for leaves that have been rolled together with webbing and inside will be a caterpillar, or on the underside of leaves you may find caterpillars. If you are unsure, go out at night with a torch and you should find the culprit. Your local garden centre or DIY store will be able to recommend a suitable control for caterpillars. If it is slugs and snails apply Tui Quash, it is the safest slug and snail bait with EDTA Chelated Iron as the active ingredient which is toxic to slugs and snails and not to wildlife, such as birds, pets and children.
