I live near Christchurch. My garden, flowers and veg have an abundance of whitefly mainly hiding on the underside of the leaves. What is the best way to get rid of it? I need a bee friendly solution and am thinking of washing up liquid solution. What are your thoughts please. Cheers Louise

Hi Louise, unfortunately whitefly are commonly found on brassicas, tomatoes, fruit trees and flowers. Plants lose vigour when infected by this insect and eventually wilt.
If insect pest infestations are small, try blasting off with a hose. For larger infestations check at your local garden centre for a spray that is suitable to control whitefly on the host plant.
