We have a bumper crop of tomatoes however, once again we have a ridge of green hard flesh at the top of each tomato, they look lovely and red but when you cut into them this green layer is across the top. What could be causing this please. We have used tomato food and have done everything advised, we only give deep water twice a week but still have this annoying layer. Can you help please?

Hi Rose, possible causes for this include too much sun, not enough water, or too much sulphate of potash. Counter with an application of a nitrogen rich fertiliser – sheep pellets would be good.
