Hello, I have just trimmed all last seasons ferns off my asparagus bed and would like to know if this is the time to fertilise them and if so what fertiliser do I use? Regards, Margaret.

Good job trimming those stalks off, it won’t be long now until your first crop starts appearing. Fertilise by sprinkling Tui Vegetable Food around the crowns of the plants and then water it in. Hope it's good season for you!

We trim our ferns off as soon as they have died down and then cover with Tui Shep Pellets and then a layer of the Tui Pea Straw as a mulch and we always have wonderful Asparagus

Thanks for your comment to my question. I use sheep pellets in the vegetable garden when planting and will now spread some over my asparagus at the end of their season as well.
