Q.
Hi, I planted a couple of Japanese maples (Tamekeyama) and a robina lace lady in December last year. Could you please let me know when the is best time to prune them to maintain shape and size. I haven't pruned them since planting. Not sure if i should prune them before spring. Thanks, R Michael

Hi there, you can prune both now (August), as the plants should both be dormant. Prune them back to a shape and size you prefer. They cope with hard pruning, so don't be nervous about trimming them. Happy gardening ^Tui Team

Just discovered my lawn has lotsa buffalo grass.. how to get rid of it??
Robin
Hi Robin, your options are manually removing the buffalo grass by pulling it out, or to spot spray with a suitable weedkiller that kills buffalo grass in lawns. It could also kill some of the surrounding grass as well, so the lawn will need to be patched up once it has died off. Happy gardening ^Tui Team
