Why are the leaves on my bamboo plant yellowing?

Q.

Hi, I have a lucky bamboo plant inside. Suddenly the leaves are turning yellow. I water it with spring water, could this be the problem?

Sylve Hauiti

A.

Hi Sylve, it is unlikely it is the type of water you are using that is causing the problem. Yellowing of the leaves normally indicates poor drainage or a root problem. If the plant has been in a pot a long time, it may have become root bound. Or if the plant sits in a tray of water, this will cause the roots to slowly die. Therefore, the remedy will be to re-pot the plant or look at your watering system. Happy gardening from the Tui Team.
