My mum has grown and cared for Daphne bushes for years, but her latest Daphne is not bushing the normal way, its growing up (extending) with the flowers appearing on these main stems. There is some bushing at the base. Plenty of flowers, beautiful scent, foliage good although I noted a couple of black on some leaves. (It may be getting too much sun). I'm thinking I will trim back to bush level after its finished flowering.

Hi Donna, your mum's new Daphne may be growing differently because it is a different variety to what she has grown in the past. If it is a Bholua hybrid they are taller growing and defoliate a little when flowering. Feel free to email a photo through for us to see the plant.
It is a good idea to trim the plant back once it has finished flowering and also feed after flowering with Tui Enrich Rose, Camellia, Azalea & Gardenia fertiliser.
