Bev's Basil Pesto Comments

  • I would love to know how to stop basil pesto going brown in the fridge. I keep mine well sealed but it still goes brown.

    Fran Hooker

  • Try using more oil so the air is not getting to it maybe

    Craig

  • You can seal the air out by covering the surface with olive oil or similar oil.

    Sue

  • I am guessing but in this recipe I am thinking that the lemon juice will stop that.

    Glenn

  • Make sure the pesto is covered by a layer of olive oil.

    Veronica Dodson

  • You can drizzle some oil over the top of it to stop browning.

    June Louisson

  • Pour a thin layer of olive oil on top of your pesto to seal it.

    Elizabeth Kay

  • I keep my pesto in the freezer. When I need some I carve a piece off and let it unfreeze. Works well and stays green.

    Stephanie

  • Try smoothing the top of the pesto flat and covering it with a layer of your preferred oil to prevent oxidation.

    Judy Lamb

  • pour a bit of oil over the pesto. This will stop it going brown

    Tanya

    Gloria

  • Could I use good quality coconut oil to pesto please.

    Sharon

  • I too freeze leftovers in IceCube trays. When frozen put into plastic ziplock bags, and just take out what required when required. I also keep some in the fridge. But once you have put into container or jar with lid on, I turn upside down in fridge. Works every time.
