I have a number of older potted roses that have been neglected for a number of years I am wanting to repot and generally tidy them up. Would it be a bad move to repot now during the warmer months or could this simply knock them off and better to wait till early autumn. Thanks

Hi Russell, as they are container grown roses you could repot them now but are better to do it in winter when they are dormant and you can give them a really good cut back. There will be less stress on the plant if you do it in winter. In the meantime, trim the back, cut out any old dead and dying wood. Sprinkle Saturaid around them which will help the water penetrate into the soil if the root ball has become dense. Also apply a controlled release fertiliser such as Tui Enrich Rose, Camellia, Gardenia & Azalea, this has upfront feeding with NovaTec, six months feeding with a controlled release fertiliser and also contains soil microbes to improve the soil and enhance growth. Make sure the roses are getting plenty of water and then repot in winter.
