Do I need to cut the leaves on my banana tree before planting?

  Northland

Q.

Do I need to cut the leaves on my banana tree before planting to grow healthy roots?

Megumi murray ishii

A.

Hi Meg, unless your plant has an excessive amount of foliage, you do not need to trim it back. Plants need foliage to photosynthesise so by removing too much foliage, you will limit the plants ability to support itself. To give the root zone a boost, apply Tui Organic Seaweed Plant Tonic.
