Q.
I have an old raised garden bed that has gone to weed. After I get rid of all the weeds, how do I go about bringing the soil back to a good condition so I can plant vegetables and prevent weeds from returning.

Hi Matt, great question. First get rid of all the weeds, then dig over the soil and cultivate it to a depth of at least 20cm. Once this is done, blend in sheep pellets or well-rotted compost, ensure you dig this evenly into the soil, rather than leaving it on top. Next water the ground wel. A deep soaking is required to activate your soil before planting. If the soil has been dry, this may take a couple of days. Once that is done, you will be ready to plant.
