Hi, I’m in lockdown in Auckland & can't buy any tomato fertiliser near me. I have lots of strawberry fertiliser though. Can I use that? Thanks.

Hi Robyn, yes, absolutely you can use strawberry food for your tomatoes. The difference between the two fertilisers is that the tomato food is boosted with calcium and magnesium to help prevent blossom end rot, but you are unlikely to have that problem so early in the season, and hopefully will be able to get to the garden centre soon. The main thing your tomatoes need at this stage is nitrogen for leaf growth and potassium for flower and fruit development. Strawberry food will supply both of those nutrients in abundance. Lianne
