Should I cut my passionfruit back in early winter?

  Auckland
  May

Q.

Hi, my passionfruit is covered in new growth in early winter. Should I cut it back or will that reduce fruit next season?

Cynthia Baker

A.

Hi Cynthia, the weather has been unseasonably warm. Leave the new growth to harden off, and hopefully not get frosted, until spring. If you cut back this soft growth now, softer growth will appear and will have an even greater chance of frost damage.

Thanks, Tui Team
