What does 'pinch out the main stems' mean?

Q.

Hi Tui,

In your tips for growing pumpkins, it says 'pinch out the main stems once growth starts'. What does this mean exactly?

Joe

A.

Hi Joe,

When the pumpkin plant vines start growing, remove the growing tip at the end of the vine so that it branches out and there are multiple vines growing from the plant, not just one. That way you will get more flowers and potentially more pumpkins.

Thanks, Tui Team.
