What is the pH of Tui Vegetable Mix?

  Canterbury
  September

Q.

What is the pH of Tui Vegetable mix? I am wanting to plant rhododendrons into an area of garden that has Tui Vegetable Mix in it.

Adrian Bliss

A.

Tui Vegetable Mix is typically in the pH range of 5.5 – 6.5.

  • Tui Vegetable mix will work in this situation as it contains organic matter that improves soil structure.
  • Rhododendrons need a free draining soil and vegetable mix will help improve the soil.
  • For future plantings we recommend using Tui Rose & Shrub mix for planting any acid soil loving plants.
  • Most of the fertiliser in Vegetable mix will have been used up by plants, so the addition of Tui Enrich Rose, Camellia, Azalea & Gardenia Controlled Release Fertiliser when planting your rhododendrons will help.
