Why are my apple cucumbers bitter?

  Bay of Plenty
  March

Q.

Hello, why do my apple cucumbers that I have growing this year taste so bitter?

Wendy Boon

A.

Hi Wendy, it is likely to be caused by temperatures being too hot and the plant getting heat stressed, or not enough water or inconsistent watering. Try peeling them and see if they taste better without the skin, remove the top part of the cucumber where it attaches to the plant and see if it tastes better with that part removed. The Tui Team
