Why are my lemons brown and dry when I cut them?

  Bay of Plenty
  December

Q.

I have a Ben Yee lemon tree some of the lemons are brown and dry when you cut them. Can you tell me why?

Pamela

A.

Hi Pamela, it sounds like your plant may have a nutrient deficiency, most likely boron. To remedy apply citrus fertiliser around the drip line of the tree and water in well. Apply Tui Mulch & Feed to conserve moisture. This seasons fruit won't recover, however next seasons fruit should be better. Lack of water over the summer months can cause similar symptoms.
