Hi, my Meyer lemon leaves are going yellow. I have the plant in a pot (we have only had it since October last year). I read that sometimes happens to leaves in winter - do I feed it some fertilizer now or wait until spring?

Hi Joanna
Your lemon tree leaves going yellow can indicate that they have too little water. Usually this is followed by them falling off the plant and starting to shrivel. Too much water triggers the plants to defoliate as well, however the leaves do not normally fade in colour. The soil should be moist but not water logged. Lemons can go for long periods without water. Magnesium deficiencies can be common in citrus, which is also shown by yellowing leaves. Apply Tui Epsom Salts around the drip line of the lemon tree (where the leaves extend to). You should feed your lemon tree in spring and summer with Tui NovaTec Premium fertiliser.
Thanks, Tui Team
