Q.
Hello, I planted a loquat tree about 6 years ago and when summer came I had my first five fruits. Since then I've had no more fruit yet the tree continues to grow and each year new growth shows. I live in Bombay, about 13 km from Pukekohe.

Hi John, some loquat varieties are self-fertile, whilst others need bees to pollinate them, so your issue could be pollination. It could also be climatic, they are sensitive to cold weather, and if the temperatures get too cold when the flower buds or fruit are forming the fruit fail to develop. If you feel this could be the case, covering your plant with frost cloth may help aid fruit set. All the best and happy gardening from the Tui Team
