New Autumn Plants

Agapanthus Golden Drop

A new release agapanthus selected right here in NZ for its attractive cream and green variegated foliage. Unlike the older variegated variety Tinkerbell, which has similar foliage, Golden Drop has a very long flowering period for an agapanthus, with flowers appearing from early summer. An environmentally friendly, sterile agapanthus selection which is a great hardy addition to the perennial border or along pathways. Available in the North Island from Annton Nursery and Container Nurseries, and in the South Island at Elliotts, Trents and Evandale Gardens.

Hydrangea Levana

Is a stunning new plant direct from Europe and the same breeder as the hugely popular Hydrangea Limelight. A sun tolerant Hydrangea paniculata type which features huge pure white blooms from mid summer, which remain on the plant for a long time. The cooler weather of Autumn brings a pretty pink tone through autumn as the blooms age. Very hardy and quick growing, each plant will bear dozens of blooms and is a very elegant large border shrub. Available in the North Island from Annton Nursery and Container Nurseries, and in the South Island from Evandale Gardens. Released February.

Salvia Amistad

Amistad is Spanish for ‘Friendship’ and with its robust performance and continual flowering it will become a friend in any garden. Exquisite velvet purple flowers appearing from mystical almost black buds gives this variety top accolades! A stunning perennial with so many attributes. Continuously flowering from spring through to the first frosts. It will quickly rebloom after trimming. Cold hardy to -5 but, will die down in winter. Avoid damp spots in winter. Prefers full sun to part shade. Available in the North Island from Annton Nursery and in the South Island from Evandale Gardens. Released January and available until winter.

Aloe Sunsrise

Another new addition to the Silhouette series of Aloes from South Africa. For structural drama nothing beats Aloe Sunrise an A.marlothii form, with its stunning broad grey foliage and soft spikes along the edge. It is topped with tall spikes of bright orange and yellow through autumn and winter. Plant in threes for effect, or try in pots either side of an entrance. Very easy care but slower growng, avoid wet sites. Cold hardy to -5. Available in the North Island from Annton Nursery and in the South Island from Evandale Gardens. Released May.
