Q.
Hi, i have just removed a lime tree that appeared to be infected with wood borer. Can I plant another citrus into the same hole without it becoming infected also? Thanks.

Hi Caroline, lemon tree borer is a nasty problem and some eggs may be lingering around in the soil. Remove any remaining remnants of the old plant, including roots, trunk leaves etc. To treat anything left in the ground spray with an insecticide registered to control it. After a few months, your soil should be free of any eggs or beetles, and a new plant could be planted in the same spot.
