Q.
Hi there Tui, I have a Black Doris plum tree, which has been in for maybe two years now. I have had very little plums off it so far. I have come to the conclusion I may need a pollinator for it, or can I complete self pollination on the tree as I don't have lots of space for another tree. If I need to self pollinate, how is it best done and what time. Hope you can help. Thank you.

Hi Karley, yes you do need a pollinator plum. There may be one in your neighbourhood, however if it is on your property you will get a better fruit set. Billington, Duff’s Early Jewel, Elephant Heart and Santa Rosa are all pollinators for Black Doris. The other option is to hand pollinate in spring with a small paint brush and move pollen from one flower to another. Happy gardening from the Tui Team.
