Q.
I have been storing worm juice since March in milk bottles with the lids on. 1. will it still be ok? 2. what should I do going forward as we make worm juice all year, but only plant in spring.

Worm wee tea is wonderful for the garden, however it does have a shelf life of two to three months at most especially over the warmer months. To store it, keep it in a dark, cool area, this prevents UV from breaking down the components. If you can't use all your worm juice, share it with your friends or offer to a local school or gardening group.

Is my stored worm juice ok to use? Comments
I understand now that I should use worm wee faster - but can I still use “old” - as in maybe 3 years - worm wee?
Peter
Hi Peter, it won’t hurt the garden if it is applied. Make sure it is diluted at part worm wee to parts water though just in case.

Great, thanks.

My worm tea has gone green. Can this still be used.

Hi Derek, has the worm tea been mixed with water and some of it unused, or is it the worm tea that has not yet been diluted with water. Worm tea is rich in micro-organisms as it has passed through the gut of the worm, these micro-organisms need oxygen to breathe. If storing worm tea for an extended time – more than three weeks, keep the lid off so that micro-organisms can breathe, and if needing to store for longer add a pinch of sugar to the tea to feed the micro-organisms. Use some on a patch in the garden to test if it is okay, I would say if it has been stored in a closed container the beneficial micro-organisms may no longer be present. Please let me know if you need more information.
