Q.
Hi there, what is the most effect fertiliser to use when preparing the ground for planting?

Hi Pete, great question. The better the soil, the better your plants will grow. If you are starting with an existing garden bed dig in organic matter like Tui Sheep Pellets and Tui Compost to your soil. These are essential to improve the physical condition of the soil by improving the structure, micro-organism activity and the water-holding capacity of soils.
Then you can add a layer of planting mix designed specifically for what you are planting e.g. Tui Vegetable Mix if you are planting veges.
For healthy gardens a combination of both soil conditioners and blended fertilisers should be used regularly. You can buy varieties specific to the type of plant you are feeding – e.g. Tui Vegetable Food for veges, or a general fertiliser like Tui NovaTec Premium to feed your whole garden.
