Rotate crops so that you aren’t planting brassicas in the same place each year, don’t grow brassicas in an area of soil known to have had club root. Crop rotation helps avoid disease build up in the soil. Plant varieties that are resistant to club root. Ensure the soil is well drained. Drench plants before planting in a seaweed solution such as Tui Organic Seaweed Plant Tonic. This will help prevent transplant shock and stimulates root growth. Apply lime about a week before planting to lower the acidity of the soil.
