I'm starting to clear the garden and notice my hyacinth bulbs are in a nice large clump. They have been in the same place for some years. They have leaves now. Can I separate now or do I wait until after they flower again.

Hi Ann, hyacinths flower and then the foliage appears, wait until flowering has finished before dividing the clump. They only flower once, so if they have flowered, that is it for the season, so they can be divided now flowering has finished. Feed the bulbs with a specialty bulb food, such as Tui Bulb Food or Tui Novatec Premium fertiliser. Enrich the soil you are planting them into with compost and other organic matter, such as Tui sheep pellets. Lianne, Tui Team.
