Hi Tui, I have a frangipani that didn't flower this year. It had good leaf growth but no flowers. I live in Rotorua and I had it in the sunniest spot all spring & summer. What can I do to promote flowers for next season? I have it in a pot so that I can move it to a sunny spot and it has flowered previously.

Hi Kathy
Make sure that it is getting at least 6 hours of sun per day in summer. Protect from frosts and make sure it isn’t too wet over winter. Water sparsely in winter when the plant is dormant, but more regularly in summer.
Frangipani are susceptible to mites - are the leaves looking speckled? If so, it could be mites. Ask at your local garden centre or DIY store for a suitable spray.
Feed the plant in spring with a citrus fertiliser such as Tui Enrich Fruit, Citrus, Tree and Shrub fertiliser and again in late summer. A fertiliser high in potassium (potash) is what is required to initiate flowering.
Thanks, Tui Team.
