Re worm Farm: Would a layer of wool from an old wool rest mattress be OK to add warmth on top please? In the past I've used an old wool carpet.

Hi Mary, yes, you can recycle the wool from a wool rest mattress to cover your worm farm. It will help insulate the worm farm over winter, but the main reason to cover the worms is to keep moisture levels constant as worms require a moist environment, they don't thrive if they dry out. Wool carpet remnants are good to use, as well as damp cardboard or damp newspaper. Lianne.
