Hi Tui, I have a big pot and would like to plant a miniature Feijoa tree. I have an Apollo in the garden, so one that fruits after Apollo, thanking you.

Hi Dorothy, if you are looking for a dwarf growing variety with regular sized fruit to grow in a pot, then try Wiki Tu, it has large sweet fruit and matures around the same time as Apollo in April. If you are looking for a small tree with miniature size fruit, then Bambina is prefect for growing in pots, fruit matures in May. Most of the compact growing varieties are suitable for growing in pots and containers, look for Opal Star which is late fruiting, or Kakariki which is a early fruiting variety. Use a quality potting mix for planting such as Tui Citrus and Fruit mix or Tui Pot Power, both mixes are free draining, have a controlled release fertiliser for prolonged feeding, a wetting agent to channel water to the roots and help retain moisture in the mix, Pot Power also has water crystals for extra water retention. Feed in early spring and again in late summer with Tui Enrich Fruit, Citrus, Tree & Shrub fertiliser or Tui Novatec, both are suitable for growing plants in pots. The Tui Team.
