Q.
What do I use to spray weeds in my lawn such as dandelion, dock and creeping oxalis without affecting the grass?
Brenda Meldrum
A.
- Apply Tui LawnForce Weedkill selective herbicide and slow release fertiliser, a 2 in 1 formulation that feeds the lawn and controls broadleaf weeds without harming the grass.
- Apply to a damp lawn in spring or autumn, the best method of application is using a hand held spreader for even distribution.
- Alternatively, ask at your local garden centre or hardware store for a selective herbicide spray, one that controls broadleaf weeds in lawns but doesn’t kill the grass.
- Your lawn may also benefit from an application of lime as the presence of broadleaf weeds usually indicates that the soil is slightly acidic.
- Tui Lime or Tui Dolomite Lime will bring the pH back to neutral. Apply to the lawn in late winter, early spring.
