Hi, I have been given two tamarillos in pots and live in Christchurch. Where should put them over winter?

Hi Elizabeth, place the tamarillo trees somewhere very sunny, sheltered and frost free. If you don’t have a suitable place outdoors then place them in a very sunny spot indoors, a conservatory or similar is ideal. Through winter keep the potting mix on the dry side, avoid overwatering as they don’t like waterlogged soils. Tamarillos are evergreen trees, but in cold climates they will be deciduous and lose their leaves in winter. Lianne.
