Ellie @thetinygardens first grew Dahlias a few years ago as a beginner flower grower and they bloomed beautifully 🌸✨️
Here are some of Ellie's top tips:
- Dahlias like a fertile, free draining soil, in an area with 6-8 hours of full sun.
- You can add bulb food to your soil before planting.
- Plant your dahlia tubers at a depth of 10-15cm.
- Cover with soil and a layer of mulch, this will help your soil retain moisture during those hot months.
- Once you see 30cm of growth, give them a boost with Tui Seaweed & Fish fertiliser every two weeks.
Dahlias are productive plants and there is a variety to suit every taste. Which ones are your favourite? 🌸🌱
