SPRING - September, October, November
- Early spring (September) start feeding lawns using a high nitrogen fertiliser such as Tui LawnForce® All Purpose.
- Control broadleaf weeds and Onehunga weed with a weed and feed fertiliser, apply Tui LawnForce® Weedkill slow release fertiliser or Tui LawnForce® Prickle Kill & Lawn Feed.
- Continue feeding as and when required, depending upon feeding range for fertiliser choice.
SUMMER - December, January, February
- Mow grass on a higher setting for drought protection through summer.
- Give lawns a boost with Tui Organic Seaweed Plant Tonic to help lawns withstand temperature extremes.
AUTUMN - March, April
- The best time to fertilise lawns.
- Use a balanced fertiliser such as Tui LawnForce® All Purpose.
- Stimulates root growth and prepares the lawn for winter weather extremes.
WINTER - May, June, July
- This is a slower growth period.
- In May apply a low nitrogen fertiliser such a Tui LawnForce® New Lawns to build strong root growth.
- In June and July no fertilising is required as the soil temperature is below 10°C and there's little active growth.
LATE WINTER - July, August
- Apply Tui Lime to adjust soil pH, nutrients will have leached out of the lawn over winter.
- As temperatures start to warm, apply a balanced lawn fertiliser, Tui Lawn Fertiliser or Tui LawnForce® New Lawns.
- Apply gypsum to control thatch.
- Apply Tui Moss Control to eliminate moss growing in damp patches over winter, Tui Lawn Fertiliser also contains Sulphate of Iron for moss control.
